October 11th is International Day of the Girl! It’s our favorite day of the year, and this year’s theme is particularly awesome: “Girl Force: Unscripted & Unstoppable.”

Daraja Academy is saying goodbye to Charles Mbuto (Mr. C) who has served as Dean of Academics for the last 10 years, but biology teacher Mercy Gichohi is ready to take the reins.
Saving Lives with Science
The design for a simple hand pump is getting Sofia, form 4, international attention. She knows the daily struggle of trying to draw enough water for a family, especially when a public borehole dries up or a complicated pump stops working. She's come up with a simple solution for those without technical knowledge and limited materials.

On Saturday, June 15th, Daraja Academy decorated campus and celebrated its 10th anniversary with over 300 people. The day was filled with cultural performances, speeches, and an exciting harambee (fundraiser) that ended with an impromptu dance party and an enormous dinner.

It was a casual conversation that set Megan Kelly on a course to outfit some of the world’s most vulnerable children. She says, "We believe that every child has the right to receive an education. A uniform should not stand in their way.”
